Make a fun flower pot.

I got this idea from local artist, Dan Thomas, he explained how he makes them.  You could shape yours to resemble your favourite Greek God or simply a fun face, like the one on the right.  Don't forget to share your creations on the blog!

You will need ...

An empty plastic pot such as a pot        noodle or plant pot.

  A roll of toilet paper

PVA glue or wall paper glue

  small amount of salt

  1/2 cup of flour

1 Unroll a toilet roll into warm water, turning it to pulp — you can use a hand mixer to help.

2 Drain in a sieve and press out as much water as possible.

3 Add a load of PVA glue, mix as well as you can. Hand mixer might help here too.

You can add salt (to stop it going mouldy) and a bit of flour to dry it out a bit too.

4 Stick to the side of a pot, covering the whole surface if possible … leave no gaps!

5 Add string to the design if you like.

6 Cut small squares of kitchen roll and cover the surface — allow to dry a little and then wrinkle it to create a skin-like texture.

7 Paint!

She uses polyfilla (dry wall compound) but ask an adult to help if you wish to use this method.
