Autmn Term 2020
This term we have been busy harvesting our Autumn veg and clearing the way for each class to have their own area to grow vegetables.
Due to the current covid restrictions I am running our club on Thursday lunch times. I've been very impressed with how keen our young gardeners are to get stuck into weeding, clearing and digging over the beds.
Digging the soil will improve the structure of the soil as it reduces soil compaction and improves soil aeration. The effect of this is that there is more oxygen available to the plant roots and the water drainage is improved. It also makes it easier for plant roots to penetrate and 'reach out' further into the soil.
We've also been collecting seeds from this year's harvest to sow in the Spring. Our aim is to be as sustainable as we can in our veggie patch.
