In Literacy, our class texts this term will be Anglo Saxon Boy and Beowulf. During guided reading sessions we will:
*Participate in discussions about the text, building on their own and others’ ideas and beginning to challenge views courteously.
*Explain and discuss their understanding of what they have read, including through formal presentations, philosophical debates and reading diary entries.
Writing sessions will include retelling a story from a different viewpoint: experiences during Viking invasions from the point of view of ordinary Anglo Saxon and Viking people.
-Use the Jabberwocky Poem to inspire writing that requires the reader to make inferences.
- Read and respond to examples of Old Norse Poetry
-Write a recount of trip to Sutton Hoo.
How you can help…
- Listen to your child read and discuss aspects of the story with them. Practise spellings and the spelling rules with your child and help them to complete the weekly reading challenges. Please practise the RoK words.
