Recap all the sounds using flash cards or speed trial on phonics play. Ensure children have quick accurate recall. Practice reading words using these sounds. See word list below or use phonics play games - Revise all phase 3 option. Discuss any sounds they find tricky.
Tuesday – Revise tricky words.
Read all the tricky words phase 2 -3. Practice writing the words they were unsure of during assessment last week. Mostly Phase 4 from the sheets I had returned. Please return sheets if not done so.
Learn – 3 days
Recap – bl, br, cl, cr, dr, fl, fr, gr, gl, pl, pr, sc, sk, sl, sp, sn, st, tw, tr, thr, scr, str, shr
And Final blends – nd, nt, nk, nch, lf, lt, lp, lk, pt, mp, xt
Introduce new final blends – ft and sk
Look at each blend and discuss different words they are used for – these are at the end of a word.
Wednesday- Make a word list for each blend and try reading each word. (e.g. lift, loft, soft, rift, raft, tusk, dusk, risk, mask, whisk) Complete the final blend sheets – find the words that use the final blends.
Thursday – Write words using the blends ft and sk- Fill in the missing sounds on sheets or draw your own pictures and words that use these final blends - these could be using chalks, paints, in flour etc. Be creative.
Friday – Write some silly sentences using some of your words ending sk and ft.
e.g At dusk the elephant put a mask on his tusk.
