Example Intake Induction Process

To help your child settle in to school life and get to know Holbrook a little better we have organised an induction programme that we hope will ensure a smooth transition from their current Early Years settings.

June: Teddy Bear’s Picnic in the park. 12.45pm-2.15pm

Meet us at Reade Field play area for a picnic and a play in the park. This is an opportunity for the children to meet each other as a whole group in an informal setting. EYFS staff will also attend to answer any questions and begin to get to know the children.

June: Forest School Session 1.30-3pm

Meet the adults who will be working with the Reception children and other parents, as well as finding out about the types of activities and curriculum we follow during our forest school sessions. Please wear long sleeves and trousers. Parents need to accompany their child, please.

June: Welcome to School Session ~ 1.30 – 2.45pm

All children are invited to attend an induction session in school which will be run as a normal school session. Please bring your children to the front entrance to be registered by the school office at 1.30pm.

Parents will then be welcomed into our school to meet our senior leadership team as well as finding out about the types of activities and curriculum we follow during their first year at Holbrook. We will also be sharing information and answering your questions about topics such as: school uniform, school lunches, PE kit, reading books and the timings of the school day. Prior to this information session we will be sending out the children’s induction packs via email: these will need to be returned on this day or before, either electronically or in paper format, please.

July 9.30-12.45pm: Meet the teacher morning

This will be the day that the whole school meet their new teacher and moves into their new classroom. Foundation are invited to join us in the morning and stay for a hot dinner and lunch time play. Please let the office know your child’s dinner options and any dietary needs.

Option 1 – Chilli Con Carne & Rice

Option 2 – Vegetable Chilli  & Rice

Option 3 – Jacket Potato with Cheese and/or baked beans

All served with Sweetcorn Salsa and a selection of deserts including Iced Sponge Tray Bake

July: Home Visits

Home school visits will be made to all children. The visits are arranged geographically, by

address, to minimise travel. Visits last 10-15 minutes and provide an opportunity to ask any questions and for staff to see the children in their own environment where they are most confident.

Pre-school Visits -June

EYFS school staff will aim to visit the children in their settings and meet the staff that work with them to find out more about what they are like in an educational setting.
