The Green Gang
Our School Nutrition Action Team 2023 - 2024
This year our gardening and nutrition team's focus is on planet-friendly gardening, growing a range of plants and vegetables and keeping them healthy. We aim to grow fresh organic vegetables that will be cooked by our school chefs and eaten by our pupils at lunchtimes. We are working towards gaining an RHS level 3 award.
We run a gardening club where children learn how to grow and maintain our veg plot and flower beds all year round. Since September we've been very busy harvesting the vegetables we planted in the summer term and clearing flower beds to make way for a spread of colour in the spring.

Year 2 were very excited with the produce from our veg garden on Friday. Due to the current restrictions, we were unable to hold a farmer's market stall for parents, so the children shared the veg out between them. I can't wait to hear about the meals they cooked!
We gave some of our home grown potatoes to the school chefs who produced a potato salad with garlic, herbs and green beans.
