Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Disaster Strikes! is our topic for the autumn. We will be studying the Roman Empire. We will make a timeline of Roman rule in mainland Europe and the UK. This will include: Julius Caesar’s attempted invasion in 55-54 BC; the Roman Empire by AD 42 and the power of its army; the successful invasion by Claudius and conquest, including Hadrian’s Wall and British resistance (Boudicca). We will also describe in detail and understand key aspects of physical geography including volcanoes and earthquakes.

Island Explorers is our topic for the Spring term. We will be learning about natural and man-made physical geographical features of European countries. We will be carrying an in-depth comparison of two European countries- Iceland and Malta. Pupils will be able to: identify physical, human and topographical features of Iceland and Malta; name simple geographical similarities and differences through the study of human and physical geography of Iceland and Malta.
