Helpful Resources for Parents

At Holbrook Primary, we work hard to keep ahead of Safeguarding issues that are pertinent to our school and the local area. For example, in response to the rise in pupils with mental health issues, we have set up our own mental well-being hub with a triaging and referral system for all pupils.

We are also aware that safety online is an area that can effect our school community particularly use of Whats App when children reach Year 5 and 6 and pupils playing computer games that are age inappropriate. For this reason, we regularly send out online safety parent guides and invite local PCSOs into school to speak to parents and pupils and have, more recently, set up a team of pupil digital leaders who share positive online safety messages with others.

Stranger Danger

The video below on Stranger Danger is designed to highlight a few key points, to be used to help you have that important conversation with your child. It is aimed at aged 4 - 11 years. For parents, carers, families, teachers, schools and Centre’s for young people to use to raise awareness and generate discussion that helps children keep safe.

We would advise you to talk about who your safe adults are and where there are safe places near you if help is needed. It’s also important to think about safety on the internet and use of mobile phone apps and games that have ‘chat’ functions as this can be just as dangerous as a stranger in the street.
