Welcome - Our School's Values and Ethos

Holbrook Primary "Inspiring curious minds"

Nurture                      Community                            Inclusion                     Resilience

Holbrook Primary has been at the heart of our community for over 150 years, offering a rich and supportive environment where every child is valued and nurtured. We are committed to inspiring curious minds and ensuring that each child reaches their full potential. Our staff work tirelessly to provide exceptional learning experiences, tailored to meet the individual needs of every pupil, fostering a strong sense of inclusion and belonging.

At Holbrook, we uphold core values of nurture, inclusion, resilience, and community. We nurture the emotional and academic growth of our pupils, creating a safe and welcoming environment where all are encouraged to thrive. We are dedicated to including every child, ensuring that everyone feels valued, respected, and part of our school family. Through teaching resilience, we empower our pupils to overcome challenges and face new experiences with confidence. We also believe in the importance of community, working closely with local organisations such as Suffolk Food Hall, St Mary’s Care Home, and East Anglia Children’s Hospice, weaving these connections into our curriculum to enhance our pupils' understanding of the world around them.

Pupil voice plays a vital role at Holbrook. From a young age, children are encouraged to take on responsibilities and develop leadership skills. Our School Council, representing each class, is involved in decision-making processes. We also offer other leadership opportunities, such as Eco Councillors, Library Monitors, and Junior Road Safety Officers, enabling children to contribute to the development of our school and community.

Our bespoke River of Knowledge Curriculum (ROK) is designed to ensure that children not only know more but remember more by building on prior learning in a carefully sequenced way. Through our Holbrook Halyards (School Environment, Pupil Voice, and School of Literature), we celebrate the features of our school that we are proudest of, reflecting our commitment to continuous improvement and the development of our students.

Above all, we are dedicated to fostering a safe, secure, and inspiring learning environment. Our facilities, both indoors and outdoors, are maintained to a high standard, and we ensure that technology is up to date to support the best possible educational experience. At Holbrook, we remain true to our motto: "Inspiring curious minds." Our nurturing and inclusive community, builds resilience in our pupils and promotes a love of learning.
